- Foot Mechanics - On August 31, 2008, the first annual Half Madness 13.1 Half Marathon will take place in historic Batavia, Illinois. Batavia, celebrating it's 175th anniversary, is in Chicago land’s far west suburbs situated along the historic Fox River. Whether you are embarking on your first half marathon, looking for a scenic Fall race, or looking for a great warm-up race for the Chicago, Milwaukee and Twin Cities Marathons, this is the race for you! Race organizers have put together a rolling course that will bring athletes through historic Batavia, Illinois, and along the Fox River. The course was designed to give first-time half marathoners a less-crowdeed alternative to other Chicago half marathons while also presenting a serious challenge for experienced runners looking to get their feet wet before their main Fall event.
